can i use single click with dyndns host ????

Post by revnu2 »

hi i doppelpostet this because in the other forum nobody answers :(
i have a importent question:

i use ultraVNC sc to remote friends and help them out with their pc-problems. its a good way for me because the only thing i must do is send them 1 file and they dont need to route ports. i use "UltraVNC SC Creator Release 6" to create the executable and i think it works fine but: every time i want to help out friends i must create a new exe....i know i know that only takes a few seconds but if i could enter my dyndns hostname (xxxxx.kicks-ass.net) it would be much moore easier for me because i could make 1 exe and have no stress further.

is there a possibility to make it running with dyndns???

it doesnt work to just enter my hostname at the place there i normally write my ip

perhaps anyone knows a much better tool than "UltraVNC SC Creator Release 6" ...... i dont want to use the onlinecreator

thanks 4 help

You can use dyndns host names in place of ip addresses for single click..:)

You would just need to setup the hostname in your router and make sure the port forwarding is correct..:)

DynDNS.org is simply a way to convert your IP address into a easy to remember hostname.

I cannot see why ... as all DNS does is resolves a hostname (jd.aus.st) to an IP address (208.97.183.141), all connection to the host is then done via IP address (as the internet routers only know IP addresses)
revnu2 wrote:anyone knows a much better tool than "UltraVNC SC Creator Release 6" ...... i dont want to use the onlinecreator
never used it sorry, i create my own using batch file ...

TROUBLESHOOTING
open a command prompt and type "ping some-adsress.dyndns.org" (replacing some-addrress withyour actual dyndns address)

check that IP address against your own external IP address (use IPchicken.com if you need to find that)

If that resolves to the correct IP, you have another problem, if not, check to see why your IP address isnt automatically updating.

hope this helps, please post to let us know how you get on

I found that this was very useful [post=39073][/post]

look at the archiboys post at the bottom saying:
"Update...

I was using the MSRC4Plugin.dsm version 1.21 (7/10/20" blaablaaablaa etc..

It works.

I have dyndns ip updater and vncviewer in my memory stick, and of course I have email prog in it, now I can email my helpdesk.exe to my friend and help him/her even I'm not in my own computer.
No port forwarding or other kinky stuff unless you are behind NAT.

Now I just have to figure out how to enable that mirror driver for SC....

it doesnt seem to work for me for some reason, when executed a notification window appears:
WinVnc Usage
-connect http://missingxtension.no-ip.org:5500 -noregistry
and if i remove the http header its the same thing just
-connect missingxtension.no-ip.org:5500
any help would be a preciated
i already tried a fresh helpdesk file only modifying the ip field

The correct syntax is without the http://. What error are you getting without the http://? Make sure the viewer has been started and is listening for the connection on the port you've specified, 5500 at the missingxtension.no-ip.org location.

you need to wait timeout past 5min before retry connection.

some buggy router do not update the dyndns host after reboot.
check your dyndns is up to date, compare the result to your actual ip.
