Very slow screen updating

Post by Gnome »

Hi.

I've been using UVNC for a long time for remote access to work via ADSL links and its speed of screen drawing is fine. Tonight I tried PHW for the first time (to assist my 84 year old mother solve a problem with her new PC!). It did the job I guess, but I had to wait about 30 seconds for any screen updates. Initially I had it set to high quality, but we dropped it to medium and low without significant change in responsiveness.

I haven't put the drivers on at this stage, but I can't imagine them having that much of an effect. Does anyone have any idea what might be happening?

The remote site is running 1280 x 1024 high colour. The connection was direct. We're both on ADSL. I don't think that it was a link speed issue.

Thanks

try using medium or low resolution.. along with the dll's update mentioned on pchelpware website.

You can also install the mirror driver on the remote computer this is included in your pchelpware download and will improve screen updates 90% of the time..

Hi!

Do you mean you had been using UVNC connectd to your mother's computer with better result?

In your situation, maybe it is the result of slow upload speed of ADSL (at your mother's side). Some ISP may provide a service of 3Mb/s of DOWNLOAD speed, but the UPDLOAD speed may be as slow as 64K. Please check if this is the bottle neck.

Also, most like the PHW display driver is not helpful in your issue, please reference this sticky for more detail.
