Hi,
I am trying to remote control my pc via the internet. But I couldn't get it working. If I am in the same LAN as the pc, which I want to control, it really works fine, but I can't connect it over the Internet.
The Situation:
Pc, to be controlled:
UltraVNC Server is running.
Ports 5900 and 5800 are open.
On router (Zyxel P660HW-D1) DynDNS Setup is activated and should report the IP to the DynDNS Service. (Not sure wheter it is working properly? -> How can I check this?)
Now I wanted to remote control this pc via Internet. And therefore I opened UltraVNC Viewer and entered myhost.dyndns.org in the VNC Server field and pressed ENTER.
Then it started to establish a connection to the server, but it always failed.
What am I doing wrong?

No connection via Internet
Re: No connection via Internet
As far as checking to see if the DynDNS is updating properly, you can use the freeware application DynDNS Updater (you can find it at download.com)
For the server running on your pc at home, you only need to have one port forward setup (you could use 5900) and make sure that it's forwarding to the internal IP address of the machine at home that is running the VNC Server.
Let me know if that helps

Re: No connection via Internet
If you are using the free DynDNS.com service, go to https://www.dyndns.com/ and log in using your username and password on the machine that you are trying to connect to. Select My Services and then Dynamic DNS under Host Level Services. This will show the IP address your myhost.dyndns.org is routing to under IP in Database/DNS and the actual IP address you are currently assigned under New IP Address. If they aren't the same, you can update it by selecting Modify Host. I saw that they weren't the same once on my sister's machine. I don't know how often they update the free accounts. Hope that helps.
If that doesn't explain why things aren't working, I wrote a step-by-step debugging procedure using Microsoft's PortQry utility that might help you. You can find it at [topic=5890]How to Debug "Failed to Connect to Server"[/topic]. You've already verified some of the questions posed in the step-by-step so you can start at Is connection being blocked by your router? It just got posted so I'd appreciate any feedback.
