suggestion to use DNS

Post by _Eric_ »

Hi,

would it not be great to input a website name (www.xyz.com) that points to the viewer's IP address when creating a server?
Using DNS to find the IP address, the server always works, even when viewer's IP changes. Most people have a DynDNS host name nowadays anayway.
Advantages: independant of dynalias servers and no extra ports needed!
I think it would make a great product even better and easier to use!

I totally agree with you as this is the most-wanted option for me. I am missing it since I was using this quite confidently with SC.

server connect to my nickname.dyndns.org direct mode could be used with your dyndns account without using dynalias
I do already that since old SC and new pchelpware.

That's what I was trying all the time. Finally I manually entered it into the custom.txt and finally the client connected to the right place. BUT...when the connection was made (which took about one minute each time), the viewer window popped up and disappeared again - the server read "Connection failed". Hmm.

Finally I made one connection and was able to remote control someone's desktop. The whole program crashed after a while. No, I don't like it.

I finally went back to the good old SC. Well, it's much uglier than PCHW, but I don't really care as it's stable and the only feature missing is the chat funcion - ever heard of notepad? :D

I have had better success with pchw then Single Click I could never have a stable connection with it. So I have the exact opposite issue you had.. Go figure..;)
