Can Desktop Wallpaper Cause Problems?

Post by Guest »

Using v1.0.0 RC18, I have noticed that if a Host system reboots (it can be W2K, WXP), the initial connection is slow and the host Wallpaper shows up. For example:

1.- Reboot Host system
2.- Connect and logon (using MS-Logon or MS Logon-2) (this is very fast)
3.- Now press the CAD button (Ctrl-Alt-Del) and "logon" the host machine.

At this point the machine continues to logon and the connection becomes very slow. Usually, I will see the host's Wallpaper (a picture of some sort) show up.

Now, if I disconnect and wait a few minutes and then reconnect, 99% of the time the connection is very fast and there is no wallpaper.

So here's the question, isn't the wallpaper causing the problem? If so, shouldn't I add RemoveWallpaper in the registry. I did so and in fact I found the entry in both the UltraVNC and Default areas with "1" as the value.

If the value is set, shouldn't the background or wallpaper not show up?

Right now, the workaround that I do is connect, logon, logon to the machine, and then immediately disconnect. Then I wait about 2 - 4 minutes and then connect. At that point, connecting and reconnecting is usually not an issue.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

RC18 disable driver during logon-screen, but it is not activated after you have made the logon.

After reconnect: driver is active
