Step by step is perfect except when both computers are behind routers. Step by step implies that uvnc.com is a repeating service. Is this true. Can we just use this as a repeater?

If we need our own repeater it is quite ambiguous what ports the repeater service listens to and what get forwarded.

Summary Directconnect when behind routher no sweat works great. But outside network I have yet to get it work.

uvnc.com does have a linux version of the PcHelpWare repeater running, but there is currently a bug which makes it unreliable. [topic=9600][/topic] lists another public repeater.

In order to get the direct connection working when both machines are behind routers you need to port forward TCP traffic on port 5500 to the machine running the PcHelpWare_viewer and enter your public IP address or DynDNS hostname when the creating the server. In addition, you'll need to allow the traffic in any security software running on the viewer machine.

Can you use an alternate port for PcHelpWare instead of 5500? Since I am running UVNC server with repeater here, forwarding 5500 to one machine will probably break UVNC for other machines.

Direct connection listen port change the port.

If using the public repeater those ports are fixed can not be changed.

If you setup your own repeater you can make those ports what you want to use..;)

Can you set up UVNC Viewer to listen at a different port? Where do you set that?

I agree with you, the step by step procedure is a bit complicated, teamview is much more easier to handle.

Hello.

When will PcHelpware be compatible with Windows 7 for both host and remote sides?

Thanks in advance.

Is the "Unique ID" number a number that you pick out of the air or is generated by the repeater?
