I was wondering if there was a way to have a program or batch file automagically launch on the event of a viewer client connecting to the VNC server?
I can think of quite a few ways in which this would be convenient, although I would use it for quite a trivial purpose.
I use a background changer on my PC. And for some reason when a client connects to the VNC server on the same PC, the background changer immediately reapplies the background that VNC removes.
I still want VNC to remove the bg and put it back when the client disconnects. The bg changer program has an option that says "Disable when one of these programs is running:" And then you can edit the list of them.
I would just add winvnc.exe to that list, but winvnc.exe is running 24/7 no matter if a client is connected or not. So what I would do if I could figure out how, is add some meaningless program to the list in the bg changer, and have that program launch as soon as a VNC client connects, and hopefully exit on client disconnect, effectively disabling the bg changer for the duration of the VNC client session.
So I really need a way to do things when VNC events occur.
It's strange though, because when I used to use TightVNC, this problem never occurred. For some reason my bg changer detects when UltraVNC changes the bg, not when TightVNC changes it. Wonder what the difference is.
