"Accept Socket Connections" checkbox can't be chec

Post by bitbuerster »

Hi all,

I've installed UltraVNC on a WinXPSP2 professional PC. The PC has several user accounts, but I installed it as administrator.
My problem is that if I try to set a password in property windows of vnc, it doesn't accept it! That is, I try to checkmark the "Accept Socket Connections" checkbox in the upper left corner and supply a password.
Everything seems fine, there is no error msg whatsoever, but If I try to connect, there is the famous "no password has been set" message -and re-opening the property dialog indeed shows that the "Accept Socket Connections" checkbox is un-checked once again.
-It is as if that darn dialog doesn't accept my settings!

Any one here with a clever idea?

is not a bug, is an error usage.
you need allow admin access to every member family, set all settings you want, then limit again all account you have allowed as administrator.

if you want to control what their are doing your family, do the step above.

If you only want to access to your own dekstop name remotely when a member of your family use their own name.
is better to use this solution below

UltraVNC 1.0.9.6.1 (built 20110518)
OS Win: xp home + vista business + 7 home
only experienced user, not developer
