Hi:
I'm trying to get SC working to help sort out my father in law's PC. Anyway, I think everything is "working" as when I run the sc server on a test machine the listening client pops up a password prompt. So what the heck is the password? The machine running the listening client previously had UltraVNC installed (I use it frequently to connect and have people connect to me). I tried clearing the password there, but haven't been successful. Is the password being prompted by the server end (where sc is running)? My test machine happens to have RealVNC installed. Is that messing things up? Any hints would be grand!
Cheers,
Paul

Prompted for password on listening client??
Re: Prompted for password on listening client??
realvnc maybe causing the issue.
Try downloading the standalone viewer from the main website
and using the commands create yourself a shorcut to listen
http://doc.uvnc.com/install/cmdline.html
Single Click should not be asking you for a password..

Re: Prompted for password on listening client??
Thanks for the response bevtech, but there may be some confusion. RealVNC is installed (though not running) on the test machine on which I launch single click (not on the listening client machine). I build SC using the web based generator (RC23). On the listening client, I have Ultra (1.0.2) installed. I run the client with the following on the listening machine:
"C:\Program Files\UltraVNC\vncviewer.exe" -listen 13000 -dsmplugin MSRC4Plugin.dsm
Two things:
- yes, I configured the helpdesk.txt file to connect explicitely to port 13000 and have configured by firewall to forward accordingly: it surely works as I am getting a password prompt, right?!
- I am using the MSRC4Plugin_NoReg.dsm plugin from the plugin directory of the 1.0.2 Ultra install. I however renamed it to MSRC4Plugin.dsm before copying it to the install folder: Again, I think I have this bit working as it is getting as far as prompting for a password.
If you still think this is to do with RealVNC on the machine running SC, why do you expect using the Ultra viewer on the SC machine will help? Isn't that sort of defeating the purpose of SC?
If SC is requesting the password, I assume it is getting out of the RealVNC registry settings some place? Is that what I'd need to "clean-up"?
Thanks again,
Paul

Re: Prompted for password on listening client??
you forget to create/add the rc4.key from the vncviewer
without the rc4.key, dmsplugin would request VNC password as challenge authentication and could not work at all with SC, Why ?
old SC do not include any password because is a reverse connection started from partner, mean use volontary.
There no password for this build SC I ; SCII ; SCIII but available to next code name SCIV (pchelpware not yet ready, almost ready for beta and work for next OS Windows Vista)
until new release, please review (again) the FAQ, thank you
