I installed the RC18. I get the error msg "Failed to connect to server" when logging to a remote home PC (also running RC18). None of the PC's are behind a firewall. Please help!
Thanks
Arul.

Failed to Connect to server
I have been having a similar problem with RC18. I am able to use the viewer to connect to the server only when there is somebody logged into Windows. I get a incorrect password error when I try to login to the server via the viwer when there is no user is logged into the server (it is at login screen). If I login to the server machine while I am at that PC and stay logged in, I can go to the PC running the viewer and login successfully. I have the server set to run as a service. I am using Windows 2000 professional on both Viewer and Server computers. I have the same problem when using other OS's. Everything worked fine before the upgrade to RC18. Any ideas?
If I were you (if you havent already)
I would uninstall the service / program all together.
Reboot machine.
Reinstall the service ensuring you set up the defaults for the password ect.
Lastly check the service and ensure the log on properties for the "Log on" uses a local system account and allows the service to interact with the desktop.. this could pose a problem if it isnt set up that way.

Had similar problem, experimented, and when i set both the "default settings" and "user settings" with the same password, it resolved the problem. these settings were accessed by - start - programs - UltraVNC - UltrVNC Server - then opening each of the following individually:
Show defult settings
Show user settings
I'd love feedback!
