Hey
I've tried searching the forum and so far havn't managed to find an awnser, sorry for the repost if this is one...
I'm trying to set things up so that clients calling in to the helpdesk I work on can run VNC servers on their machines without adding any security risks. One thing I'd like to use to minimise any security issues is to have them configure their VNC server to not listen and make them use the Add New Client dialogue to initiate a connection so we can gain access to their machines. Only problem is our helpdesk is also behind a firewall which would mean we'd need to open up some ports and forward them to our boxes. Forwarding specific ports to specific boxes isnt a really viable option but forwarding a few ports to a single box running the repeater is.
Is it possible to use the VNC repeater to establish 'reverse' connections? ( <Clients running VNC Server establishing connection via add new client> -> <Router with forwarded port(s)> -> <VNC Repeater> -> <Workstation(s) with VNC Viewer in listen mode> )
If this is possible, how do I configure this?

VNC repeater and Listen mode
External/DMZ mode

In the external portion is where I think you will find your solution. There is also a comercial oddering based on Ultr@VNC that includes a hardware portion as well.

Re: External/DMZ mode
Unfortunatly the instructions are a bit confusing... is there any other documentation? Also, I'm not sure if Im running repeater 2.0, I installed the latest stable release but I can't tell if it came with an older version of repeater. I noticed that you can specify 2 ports in the CLI but when I run it it only listens on 1 port...lenisham wrote:[topic=34][/topic]
