Unable to see popups even though they're there

After successfully connecting to the home desktop using my laptop (which is in the same LAN), I realise I cant see the popups on the laptop that are suppose to appear when I right click on something, but I know they're there because my desktop is showing the popup. Any idea what's wrong?

Alpha blending ?
To see semi transparent menu's, alpha blending need to be checked in
the server options.

Thanks for the solution! Guess it must be the skin I'm using that gave me this problem in the first place.
