desynchronized mouse positions

Post by vncarnet »

When I put my mouse inside the Ultrav VNC 1.01 Viewer,
I can't control the desktop of the remote at exactly where
I position the mouse but there is a difference of about 3 inches.

This means if I have to click the "Start" at the bottom left
of the Windows. I have to position the mouse 3 inches to
the right of the "Start" screen position so the mouse would
click, anyone knows why this is so?

I tested the same software in other machines and it is ok. Only
with this particular machine. What setting must I adjust either
in the windows or setting?

Thanks.

They are the same. The server uses Windows 98 while the
client uses WinXp.

Another weird thing I notice. As I tried moving the mouse in
the whole screen. I notice that as I move further to the right,
the distance between the actual position and shown position
of the mouse icon increases while moving it to the left side
of the screen decreases the distance.

No one else encounters similar problem?

I tried Win98 as client connecting to Win98 server using UltraVNC
1.01. Same strange mouse movement.

I have tried it successfully in another machine. The specs of
the successful machine is Pentium 3 - 667 Mhz, 133 Mhz memory
and 100Mbps lan card, while the specs of the failing machine is
Pentium 3 - 550, 100 Mhz memory and 10Mpbs lan card.

What's your guess what caused the strange mouse movement...
could it be the lan card driver?? What's your theoretical assessment?

do you use scaling (server or client side)?
Sounds like there are different factors for mouse and rest of screen.
What are the resolutions of the server and viewer screens?

yes, scaling doesnt help.

I matched the resolutions in both server and client to both
1024x768 and also to both 800x600 but still the strange
mouse behavior remains.

Any genius can figure out what is the problem?

All computers have same mouse driver and same model of mice ?

Yes. It's PS/2 same model. I am guessing it may be the lan card
which is different between the working (100Mbps) and unworking computer (10Mpbs). Anyway. For those who are familiar with how
UltraVNC 1.01 works. How is the position of the mouse in the
server conveyed to the client computer. How can the positions
become mismatched?
basicos

it happened also to me, some outway?

the only solution is to change options:
Let remote server deal with mouse cursor

but problems arise after it:

1 you see 2 cursors,
2 you have a third of the vnc unusable:
when you right cursor reachs the right side of the vnc screen you have no way to move more the left cursor into the right because the right cursor is out of vnc-screen limits, and working in the normal windows
