OK, so I want to be able to install UltraVNC server on my home pc (here) and have a really tight password. I also want to have some good encryption going.
Then I want to put a *non-installing* viewer (does one exist?) on a USB thumbdrive so I can run it from anywhere. (java is not an option).
How would I go about getting maximum protection (password+encryption) on my home computer, and not put any files on the client computer (usb portable app?)?
Thankyou for your time.

Then I want to put a *non-installing* viewer (does one exist?) on a USB thumbdrive so I can run it from anywhere. (java is not an option).
I created a document for settings properties for VNC

well should be in you are using the MSRC4 plugin?? If it is working properly you can see a bar above your winvnc viewer that sys mcsrc4 plugin X.X.X
That tells you that the encryption is working..
You have to tune the guides to your application and setup requirements they are ment only to assists users nothing more..

SingleClick is a server-solution. It cannot be used when you want to connect from somewhere to an unmanaged server.bevtech wrote:I would use Single ClickHow would I go about getting maximum protection (password+encryption) on my home computer, and not put any files on the client computer (usb portable app?)?

I send SC.exe(s) to my clients all of the time. You may have to setup a repeater then configure the VNC viewer to use the repeater as well.
I have two repeaters one using the stable verision and the other using a using Beta SCIII with SSL and both work fine.
Single Click expands to a temp folder when running you may have to allow passthrough a firewall for port to open.
When you terminate the connection the flies are deleted. Without the user reopening the exe or redownloading it you can not get back into it.
One drawback is that you have to have a repeater somewhere. The UltraVNC repeater is great for testing but someone else my use the same ID's that you do and can cause issues. The newest repeater 1.0.4 is designed to connected Server to repeater then remove itself from the picture so that the communication is down between the viewer and the server. I am not sure the status if it is considered stable yet or not. I havent checked it recently.
There are ways to use single click with a repeater and set your viewer in listening mode. I choose to use a repeater so I can see if the viewer and server are making it to the repeater and then use ID numbers.
You would have to open the ports default = 5500 and forward it to your viewer. On the main page they have www.ultravnc.com they have stand alone viewers and servers.
But that is the beuty of Ultra Vnc it can be used about 100 different ways in a milllion different configurations...
But something has to run in the pc (server) for you to view it ( viewer) Single click is a reverse connection..
Keep in mind that it took me some time to get my first Ultra VNC connection working and I am a computer tech with 10-12 years experience. I had some snytex wrong on the command line causing most of my problems.
It sometime takes some time to get the bugs out but it is an awesome application and would sugguest it to anyone to use..
MortenChistensen does have a point that it is impossible not to have any apps running for a server. Something has to be running *.exe for the images to be send via the internet to a viewer. You can use MSRC encryption up to 128bit.
If I can assist please let me know, It is always better to post in the forum because another user and poster my have better ideas.. I love Open Source...
I hope that I helped you in some way anyways,
Take Care,
