SC and Zone Alarm

Post by Gary Williams »

Hi All,

I have got SC working perfectly, as long as I load vnc viewer before zone alarm.

If I load vnc viewer before zone alarm, I get the "attempted SC Connection" dialog appear and all works fine.

If I load vnc viewer AFTER zone alarm, I can't accept the SC connection. To fix this I disable ZA, accept the SC connection and fire up ZA immediately. Until I reboot my PC again, I can continue to accept SC connections. To prevent ZA mistaking SC for a Trojan House attack, I use port 5505.

Has any other ZA owner had this problem and solved it?

Regards

Gary

Did you try to open port 5505 in the zone alarm software or add the VNCSERVER program to the list of acceptable programs to use the internet under zone alarm?

Hi Bevtech,

ZA has been set to accept both vncviewer and vncserver. How do you specifically open port 5505 in ZA? Is this a expert rule thing?

well it has been a little while since I configured ZA but I would set my server up to listen on the port 5505 and start the vncsever.exe. ZA should prompt you automatically to allow or block the vncserver.

Out of curiousity what OS. are you using to do all of this in???

and are both the vncviewer and server allowed locally and internet. It maybe in the experts settings..:)
