Disabling server's mouse.

Post by CBailey »

From time to time, I'm working on a customer's computer, and they (Or their kids/cat/etc..), for whatever reason, start moving the mouse around. This makes it impossible to work on their computer, and it's awkward to tell the customer to leave the !@#$%^& mouse alone. If it's already a feature, I missed it.

This is a good idea, I dont know if someone has suggested a "Disable local inputs" option for this or not. I can see how it could be troublesome, since you are helping them and if you are going or doing the wrong thing they can show you specifically.

An option on the viewer itself to disable remote inputs could be handy though.

Just preface your work with please leave your keyboard and mouse alone.

Rudi - any ideas if you like this one or not?

You could package sc inside a compiled AutiIt script that disables the mouse before starting sc and reenables it on exit.

Then you get the opposite problem :)

I've had many cases where I ask the customer to "Do what you did when you experienced the problem". Sometimes, we take turns working on it. Just yesterday, a customer was having problems installing an application. Once I entered the administrator password so it would install, I let them finish the install, as I didn't know what options to use while installing. Sometimes, the remote and I look for a file together.
