trying to use SC... pls help!

Post by Bipsi »

I have two PC on my home network. PC A is directly connected to broadband internet (LAN). PC B that I'm using is connected to internet through PC A. So mine (PC B) is DHCP enabled. I have access to PC A through Ultravnc 1.0.1. It's working great! Now I want to use SC and let my friend have a remote access to my PC (PC B). I've downloaded 'NO-IP' and running.

Now the questions are..

1. What should I write in the helpdesk.txt?
For example, -connect 202.168.xx.xx:5500 -noregistry or -connect host_name.my-vnc.com:5500 -noregistry ?

2. What should be the next steps after creating the EXE file and send it to my friend?

3. I'm using 'surecom 5 port mini switch'... not router (if u need to know this extra!!). How can 'port forwarding' thing can be done?

*I checked ipconfig of PC A. It says Routing enabled. And it's IP don't change. But mine is PC B (DHCP enabled)... remember?!

*If I put 192.168.1.1 in my URL I see the web page of my broadband provider.

Any help would be appreciated. If you need more info I'll try to provide. Thanks very much for reading the post patiently!

If you look at http://portforward.com/routers.htm you will find information about port forwarding for lots of different routers.

partner need help start SC requesting your viewing their computer (you)

so,
the HOST part of helpdesk.txt content of SingleClick need to know viewer public_IP address or fully Qualifed Domain Name address.

only viewer need to open port 5500 in their own NAT broadband/router.

SC (partner) --> Internet ---> viewer (yourself)
or
SC (partner) --> Internet ---> NAT broadband/router ---> viewer
or
SC (partner) --> NAT broadband/router --> Internet --> NAT broadband/router ---> viewer
  • 1a. if your ISP rent you a static public_IP, is more efficient to use it.
    (your example: 202.168.xxx.xxx)
  • 1b. if you have a dynamic from your ISP, (change everytime you receive from your ISP) you need to use example: mystatic_hostname.mydomain.com:5500
    do not change anytime mean a static FQDN=Fully Qualifed Domain Name you rent to a DynamicDNS or staticDNS service provider.

  • 3. If you put 192.168.1.1 to access to you broadband provider is a router can handle this feature. so you need to configure inside this
