How to bypass work proxy?

Post by johnnytk36 »

I know this question has been asked before but i couldn't find a answer that worked for me. It takes me a whole day to test any changes since i cant change any of my home settings till i get home and then test them when i go back to work the next day.

At work i can't connect to my home computer because my work uses a proxy with port 8080.

I have tried forwading port 8080 on my home router to the computer i want to connect to and changing the port for VNC to use for the main program to 8080.

What is the best way to get around the proxy?
Do i need to do it within the browser or use VNC?

Thanks in advance

JK

I tried that but i get the java apllet loaded and after that nothing comes up. It is just a white screen. No login comes up or anything.

I am not using any plugins. my http port is 5920 and my main port is 5900.

To connect to http I enetered http://XXXXXXXX.dyndns.org:5920.

until a new fulll winvnc support proxy
for bypass your proxy, you need to use SCIII that support sock and https

"classical" mode
vncviewer --> winvnc release 1.x

reverse mode
SCIIII ---> vncviewer special

I had the same problem. I use a program called, 'Reverse HTTP Starter'. It works without any hassle.
see VNC-Related products and look [topic=4454][/topic]

Can someone please explain how the Reverse HTTP Start solves this problem? I thought that was for accessing your Work computer from Home.

This post is the same as my problem, I want to access my Home computer from Work.

Why not make a scheduled task on your work computer that runs the command

winvnc -autoreconnect -connect yourserver.no-ip.org

every 5 minutes or so?

Start the VNCViewer running on your computer at home when you want to connect. It isn't the cleanest setup but it should get the job done. I've never tested the functionality but I've seen other people use this setup.

You might want to check your computer network policies at work. Sometimes the IT do nt allow remote connections because of security practices in place. I hate to see you guys get fired because you didnt follow company polices..:D Luckily must companies don't mind you working from home on your pcs
