UltraVNC Server UI cannot correctly save some valid passwords.

Post by sgw03407 »

Hello UltraVNC maintainers,

Thank you again for maintaining UltraVNC.

While testing UltraVNC Server password settings, I found that some valid passwords cannot be saved correctly from the UltraVNC Server UI.

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open UltraVNC Server settings.
2. Set the VNC password to:

6Y9pTnAV

3. Save the settings.
4. Restart UltraVNC Server, or reopen the settings.
5. Try to connect from UltraVNC Viewer.

Actual behavior:

The password appears to be treated as empty or not configured.

Expected behavior:

The password should be saved and accepted as a normal 8-character VNC password.

I checked the source code briefly, and it may be related to how an encrypted password value is checked for being empty.
However, I may be mistaken.

Could you please check whether this behavior is intentional or a bug?

Thank you again for your work on UltraVNC.
