UltraVNC through a VPN connection - Grey Screen

Post by RonnieM »

Hi

Following on from my post outlining a problem with direct uVNC connection via through a FTTP service . . . .

Using the same service, (and not to be beaten !!) this time we have created a VPN connection in to the "Fibre Router" serving the destination network.

This VPN connection type is reported as - L2TP AES128-CBC-SHA1

Then using uVNC through this VPN tunnel . . . .

We get a very quick response and password dialogue presentation.
The password is accepted.
We then get a very quick correctly scaled uVNC window, but with a "grey screen".
Nothing happens thereafter for some considerable time, and then -
"Server closed connection"
"- The server running as application"
If instead you open the file transfer window, it shows a date and time stamp - Connecting. Please Wait...
Closing the file transfer window seems to then trigger the above "Server closed connection" message.

It seems that a connection "nearly completes", but not quite.

Does anyone have any experience of this "grey screen" phenomenon ?

Does anyone have any experience of using uVNC through a VPN connection ?

Does anyone have any experience of doing this using BT FTTP "Full Fibre" (UK) ?

Thanks,

Ronnie
