Hi
We have been using uVNC for many years.
At one location we have a new BT Business FTTP (Full Fibre) service. This has a static, or fixed IP address which is routable.
We have (so far) NOT been able to make a direct inbound connection through this fibre service.
We have tested using three different routers.
BT SMart Hub 2 (business)
Draytek Vigor 2860 (that we happily use in numerous locations for uVNC)
Draytek Vigor 2865 (newly bought for the fibre service)
We have tested with two viewer versions, v1.2.0.3 and v1.2.4.0
We get no further than - Status - "Connecting to server !" then "Failed to connect to server !"
Looking at the BT router logs, we see :
FWL Port Forward Server(192.168.nnn.nn) TCP 59nn accepted a new connection from nn.nn.n.nn
This would seem to suggest that the inbound request arrives at the router WAN side, but there is no evidence of the port forwarding actually happening, and of course the destination machine with the listening server either does not respond, or the response never gets back out.
We have tested this with the destination machine plugged directly into a LAN port on the router in order to eliminate all other equipment.
Ironically we can use another internet service on the same network where uVNC will find the destination machine and respond correctly while it is connected to the "fibre service" router.
Looking at the logs on the Draytek routers does not yield any easily decipherable information, but again, using two different routers there is no final connection made.
Has anyone any experience of using uVNC via a BT "Full Fibre" connection ?
Does anyone have any ideas as to why this might be failing ?
Thanks,
Ronnie
