Newbie Questions about Vnc

Post by Raistlfiren »

Hi,
I just got Vnc just recently and was hoping to connect towo computers via LAN. One of them is Windows XP Professionald and the other is Home Edition... Anyway, my problem..

I install it on my Windows XP Professional and I get it working where I can access it on a java webpage and on the viewer. I can also view it on my Windows Home computer... Whenever I go to my Windows Home computer, it won't allow me to connect to it... I have everything set the same, but I can't connect ito it through both computer! Does anyone know my problem?
Thanks for any info,
Rat

My first guess is, that a firewall on the XP home is blocking incoming requests on port 5900 (viewer) and/or 5800 (javaviewer).

Yes I would of thought so too, but I have no firewall on the computer and the Windows firewall is off. My router is my firewall... I have already forwareded ports 5000-6000 and no they work because my other computer is working fine... I also noticed that I could not access the desktop through remote access also... Hmmm...

Whenever I think about it whenever I right click my computer and go to the remote tab, there is two items under it in pro and only one in home... Could that be the reason, because pro has more options? I am hoping not, because I really want to access my other computer from my windows xp pro...
