UltraVNC SC 2.0 based on 1.4.0.5 (experimental)

I know it was an especially hard release, thanks!
However, the SC's online creator links seem to be outdated, as the most updated version there is still from 2019. I don't want want to download the ZIP file, as I want to enjoy the digital signature and extra files (like ddengine.dll and encryption). So can you add add a new SC online creator?

I'm so looking forward to try the new SC, but the online creator links are still obsolete, please assist...

We current didn't got any feedback on SC2.0
You can easy test it, modify helpdesk.txt and run winvnc_SC.exe.

The online creator wil be online around 1feb

SC version 2.0 seems to work well with windows 10. I tried with windows 7 but I had problems (the viewer connects but the mouse does not move)
question: windows 7 is no longer supported by this version ?

the full version of ultravnc 1.4.0.6 for the tests that i was able to do works well. only slower sometimes viewer connection with repeater if securevnc plugin is active

Hello,

Since the new release we seem to be having an issue with AuthHosts.

Previous versions we would use AuthHosts=+192.131.2:+192.132.2:+192.133.2:+192.134.2:+192.135.2:+192.136.2:+192.137.2:

After the new update we are instantly being rejected.
By removing the authhosts it works, by removing the - it also works.

Any help would be appreciated.

For a forum release it's ok, it's just pressing a button to make the exe.
It wasn't a big change.
Some time ago someone asked to log the dns name and not the ip address, but the same parameter was also used for the filter.
The change is to use the ip address for the filter and store the name in another parameter for the logging.

To make a the website announcement, i wait a little longer

Since the new release 1.4.0.6 we seems to having issues with UAC on Windows 10 / 11

"UltraVNC running as application doesn't have permission to access UAC protected windows.
Screen is locked until the remote user unlock this window."

WinVNC host running as service with LocalSystem rights.

Rolling back to version 1.3.8.1 - this issue don't exist.


Any help would be appreciated.

They all doesn't show the UAC popup (on the viewer) ?

WinVNC started and running as service on host.
Viewer started and connected.

Trying via viewer screen, to elevate an application, UAC prompt (Login as) is shown on host.

In Viewer the screen becomes black, with a red box in the upper left corner, with the text:
"UltraVNC running as application doesn't have permission to access UAC protected windows.
Screen is locked until the remote user unlock this window."

No UAC prompt is visible in the viewer.

Working on it, but as SC use the same source as winvnc each reported issue is also a SC issue.

Current checking if i also can use ultravnc.ini for the poll settings, no need to block anything of that in SC.

I think there are minor cosmetic issues with the "Viewer Status"-Window (which can be opened while connected to a server and is shown upon connecting to a server):
- "Speed: " label overlaps another field* with conection details (* regarding encryption? ...belongs to "Encoder" or "Status"?)
- the whole line with "Speed: ", (value field) and "kbit/s" (another label) should be vertically aligned
(- the window has probably been made bigger, now there are big gaps under the lines "FPS: " and "Status: ")
...have seen that in Viewer v1.4.0.6 and v1.4.0.7.

Did a quick test:
1.4.0.6: UltraVNC running as service ----> UAC yes/no prompt is shown as expected
1.4.0.7: UltraVNC running as service ----> UAC yes/no prompt is shown as expected
...seems to work.

Found some display issue:
Switch sec screen to a bigger res while connected or Activate UAC and open taskmgr

The viewer display scrollbars indicate a bigger viewerwindow , while it should stay the same.
If not uing the ddengine is sometimes showed a very small window.

I guess that's what some people reported without a howto repeat instruction.

This is fixed in 1.4.0.8, still need to create it.

PS also tesing SC_20 while doing the display test, but still not ready.

I've seen scrollbars appearing (viewer window) which shouldn't be there but never had the time to determine the cause. From the gut I would have claimed that happens when the viewer connection is interrupted/disconnected from the server (or the subsequent successful reconnect)...but that might be wrong (or there are multiple situations which lead to the appearing scrollbars). Anyway it would be great to get that bug under control although it is only a cosmetic/minor issue.

My team has done some testing, and the problem is related with the systray icon ...
No problem if the icon is hidden (DisableTrayIcon=1), but black screen when UAC prompt is active, if the icon is visible (DisableTrayIcon=0).
This is a new behavior for this version ...

Hey,
today we decided to upgrade ultraVNC to 1.4.0.6, but we found a bug. In ultravnc.ini we have:

QueryAccept=2
QueryIfNoLogon=0

According to documentation it should not ask user to accept connection when screensaver is on and automatically log us to PC. In 1.3.8.1 it works fine, but in 1.4.0.6 it just rejects connection immediately. Also when user is logged both QueryAccept 1 and 2 auto accept the connection after timeout, but in 1.3.8.1 QueryAccept=2 was rejecting the connection.

Please check first 1.4.0.9, there was a hostname bug fixed in 1.4.0.7 that had impact on the query window
