1.2.0.6 "change password" not working on WinXP

Post by Bithunter »

Scenario:
1.2.0.5 working fine on winxp. Update to 1.2.0.6. Changing passwords doesn't work.
ultravnc.ini gets changed (new encrypted passwords are saved) but access is only possible with old password (!!??)
Any thoughts?
Thanks

Update: ultravnc.ini doesn't get really updated. File timestamp changes, but passwords don't.

Strange...
Is the passwd encrypted string changed in the ultravnc.ini

There is only one spot were the password is saved, that's the ultravnc.ini in the same folder as winvnc.exe.

* Restart winvnc.exe if you change the password via the uvnc_settings.exe file editor. winvnc is not aware of the changes.
*Vefiry if you don't have multiple instances running
in folder A winvnc is running as service with passwd A
You start manual winvnc from folder B and change the password to B
possible you have 2 servers active one on port 5900 and another on port 5901

Just some idea's

I´ve posted an update after reporting the issue.
Seems new password never gets saved.
Workaround: copy ultravnc.ini's "passwd=" and "passwd2=" lines manually from another computer running win7 with updated passwords (and restart computer or winvnc service).
