cannot get any dsm's to work

Post by 2manyhats »

I have tried everything from rc18 to rc20x and when I choose any plugin on the server and the viewwer I get the invalid protocol message. I use the same dsm file on the server as well as the viewer. Sometimes I get a hang on the negotiating protocol part of the connection status or I get the invalid protocol error right away. I tried win98 pc's, 2000 and xp with the same result. I do get a password prompt so I am assuming there must be something minor that maybe I missed. Currentlt I am trying to use the AESV2 dsm because i don't have to create a key.

Any help would be appreciated.

Kevin

Kevin,

First of all, go back to the MSRC4Plugins for now. The others are Beta. Use the MSRC4Plugin_NoReg.dsm. Make sure its version 1.1.8.

Make sure your viewer and server are version 19.5 or later. RC20.5 or better is even better.

Follow the instructions on the DSM website to setup the plugin. Get the keys setup on the client and the server. To generate the initial key I recommend you use the viewer. Its easier to find the key. In fact, use the "testviewer.bat" to start the viewer when you generate the key.

Once you have the keys setup and the server and viewer setup, attempt a connection. If you still have problems, then follow the trouble-shooting section on the website. Generate the log files like it says, and send them to me.

Ok I'm not as big a moron as I thought I downloaded the dsm's from your link and VIOLA all was well. Encryption worked right away. Both of my RC4 dsm's were matching with a date of may 25th when I had the original problem. I was only moron enough to not check the date in the readme file. I was using 1.1.7

Thanks for the prompt response, Sean.
