can't input numbers, because I get characters instead

Post by gringotani »

We use Ultravnc for remote-accessing other XP PC's on our company’s internal network. We have a problem where very often if an internal user uses Ultravnc to connect to another internal PC, when he types in a number, he gets the associated character instead e.g. if he types “1”, he gets “!” instead and if he types “2”, he gets “@” … (The problem is not due to the shift key being pressed down). Please advise why this occurs and what I can do to prevent it. Thank you very much in advance, Nathaniel

gringotani,

Check Stickykeys. It is also worth trying to press and release each shift key (at times they are toggled off after a press). Check FN (function) keys as they are sometimes on by default. The on-screen keyboard is a workaround (start->programs->accessories->ease of access, or 'osk' at start/run).
