File transfer with Linux

Post by Jean-Dom »

I use UltraVNC to connect to a Linux server (currently Ubuntu 8.04, soon migrating to a newer version).
I cannot transfer files, because the viewer returns the message tha "File transfer is not supproted".

I have seen nothing explicit about that, but the file transfer seems to work between UltraVNC Windows Server and UltraVnc Viewer.
Is there any Linuc VNC Server that could be used to support file transfer ?

Note that I also know solutions like SSH (putty/tunelier…), but I would avoid it to keep a simple way to connect to the machine.

Thanks for your help.

File transfer is always a picky area - it works best when the server matches the client version.

For Linux, if you're using x11vnc as the server you have a chance of it working, but you need to turn on an option.

But I don't know if x11vnc is compatible with the current version of UltraVNC's file transfer.

I must check which VNC serveur is used and to test.
