24 bit color depth

Post by cybermat »

Hello, using ULTRAVNC 1.0.8.2 as server, if i set 24 bit as color depth and the resolution of 1152x854 the connection is slow.

If i put 16bit or 32bit i have no problems.

Unfortunately i have to use 1152x854 and the PC automatically sets the color depth to 24bit as only one possible choice.

Is it a known bug?

Indeed, 24bit is slow.

Vnc work with 8/16/32 color buffers.

Capturing a 24bit color screen in a 32bit buffer require a color conversion.
Vnc need to scan the screen for changes, so several times a second.

You could try to use the mirror driver, try...it's not certain it works on
24bit displays, depend on hardware.
