ChunkVNC as service - disconnected traffic

Post by JonD »

This may be more of a question about UVNC rather than ChunkVNC...

If ChunkVNC is installed as a service on a client computer but the viewer is not connected, does the client computer still send screen updates etc to the repeater? In other words, is screen update data traffic only transmitted
when a "full" connection is completed.

I'm just trying to understand how this all works.

Yes, it stays connected, but no, it's not transmitting screens. Just a handshake/login to the repeater, as far as I understand.

It's like leaving the phone off-hook without speaking into it.

That's what I figured. I don't usually leave service installations up for extended periods of time but ran across one that I had forgotten and wondered if it was having any impact on either my server or the client's computer.

Thanks for the insight.

As far as i know B is right on.
Nothing more than a handshake is being transmitted.
