Slow Screen and Mouse Response Time

Post by oscar6263 »

Any idea why I am seeing very slow screen and mouse responce times? I am using chunkviewer from Windows 7 64 bit. I experience the slow responses supporting both xp and 7 64 bit.

Tried the rtr version, and it's speeds were more acceptable. Can I run the chunkviewer and the repeater on the same computer without degrading speed?

Speed will vary greatly depending on where you setup the repeater.
Running the repeater on the same computer or LAN as the viewer will increase the speed. This is because the latency between the viewer and repeater is very low.

Remember, it is recommended to run the repeater in a fixed location.

Now I'm confused. I have the router and the viewer running on the same machine. I have the host running on another machine on the same lan. When I compiled the project, I used the wan address, and have set up port forwarding to the repeater. When I run this setup it is slow to the point of not appearing to even work. 10+ seconds to respond to a mouse click or repaint the screen.

However, when I run the RTR software, which has it's repeater somewhere on the net, I get acceptable speeds.

Does this have something to do with the loop-back I have seen mentioned on other posts?

For a test compile an InstantSupport with the LAN address of the repeater in the WAN field in the compiler.
You should elaborate more on what network equipment you have and how it's setup.
