Keep alive when IP resets - auto reconnect

Post by georgeberz »

If I am remote managing the server and the sewrver resets it's IP address or IP address hops to a new one... We need to have the UVNC server, ping or whatever it does to report its IP address

Gotomypc has this feature, if the server resets its IP address while a conection is underway it automatically reconnects the connection almost immediately, you as a used really do not feel the connection was lost at all

logmein if the IP changes while your connected connection drops and you have to relogin again

This is extremely important if you have a unstable connection, ie when managing via a remote cell connection or via a bad dialup or even if the server is infeted with some kind of virus that interrupts the internet connection and or with proxy's.

Please make a more robust keep alive or auto reconnect, what do you all think?

yes but when a hard reset IP change occurs at the server and the physical IP address changes the connection does not automatically reconnect... Gotomypc reconnects in less than 10 seconds I run 24 DSL lines with remote access and need to save some money and get rid of gotomypc

example of my server system is here

i understand what exactly you mean.
but what the release of uvnc do you use just for my own information
because the uvnc 1.0.9.3.2 had a lot of network issue solved caused by codec switcher especially with auto mode.
3 users reported have a lot of issue broken network before and now, network never break as their use the uvnc 1.0.9.3.2
but this need a least OS w2k, xp, vista, 7 or w2k server, server 2003, server 2008, server 2008r2
[topic=26860][/topic]

for winvnc running as service system (uvnc_service service auto)
ultravnc.ini
service_commandline=-autoreconnect -connect host
or
vncviewer -socketkeepalivetimeout n -autoreconnect 0(second) -connect host
