What version to use for a presentation?

Post by ROBOd »

Hello!

I'm going present a project I've made over the Internet. The Internet connection will be of 256kbit/s. I need to know two things:

- Which version of UltraVNC is recommended to use? Stability is important. It's also important to have the FileTransfer feature working properly (syncronous or asyncronous - whatever).

- What settings are recommended for very little bandwidth usage, but acceptable visual quality? I know, this is subjective :).

Thank you very much. I also know the forum category to which I posted this topic probably ain't adequate.

I suggest RC20 as well.

If the connection speed is 256, you can try both 256 and 64 colors.

The RC20 viewer "modem" quick option now uses ZRLE & 64colors & bitmap cache settings.
I also suggest that you Enable Video Driver in WinVNC: it helps a lot over slow connections.
(But if your presentation implies/contains DirectX drawing, disable the driver and keep the other default "Update handling" settings).

"Modem" option is what I'm using on a daily basis over a 128Kbits/s DSL connection:
- Very good responsivness
- Good visual quality indeed, even if the colors are not the original ones (you have to test to judge if it's ok for you or not).

Thanks guys. I'm downloading RC20.

I hope it's going to be OK.
