LAN performance

Post by marcw »

Can anyone recommend configuration settings (both client and server) for the most responsive experience possible over a fast LAN connection or are the default settings adequate?

It just seems like things could be a bit more responsive... Thanks for any advice!

The autoconfig settings are optimum for most cases. For a fast local connection like yours say Hextile or ZRLE and Copyrect encoding should work great, and that's what must be done by autoconfig.
But there would be no problem when you try other settings due to get more speed optimized to your particular case of use, and fortunately, doing that often brings extra speed.

Actually one of mine, even though in a fast local network, is working apparently better with Tight since on the server i use a lot of full-color images.
So why don't you go ahead try whatever you think would work better.

good luck!

I recommend you play with all of the different types and chose what best suits your environment...

Quick options: Ultra
add video hook driver for less cpu use on host

Ultra is not added to automatic options ! Why ?
because is experimental at your own risk
