I apologize for the seeming repost, but I'm really hoping someone can help me with this:
I've installed ultravnc 19.5 on a Windows Server 2003 box, running as a service. I can connect to it using vnc on any Linux workstation. I can also connect from it to any Linux or Windows XP workstation running ultravnc or any other vnc flavor. However, If I try to connect to the server from an XP workstation, after the password prompt, I get a freeze at the ultravnc splash screen, or nothing at all on with any other vnc.
I really need to get this working, and would appreciate any help.

Still have win2k3 problem
Ive had the same thing with WinXP to WinXP , i entered the password , it accepts it then just waits (needed to be killed from taskmanager)
from reading the forums and a few 2k3 posts here and my own experiences this week
i have a feeling its the hook driver not upgrading thats causing the problem, i have to do a site visit to confirm the remedy tho
i just installed the WinVNC Server over the top of an existing RC11 install with RC19 it didnt prompt about drivers on the install and was up and running (as you would expect on an upgrade) of course as soon as i connect viewer (through ssh) i get the same as you, it just hangs after the password challenge
i have since found out (via having the user on the phone) that as soon as winvnc authenticated me the server rebooted (hence the viewer hanging at my end) after de-activating autoreboot (system properties>advanced>system start up..>automatically restart)
i found it was giving a BSOD in vncdrv.dll , some people here have mentioned removing the drivers from device manager and uninstalling everything even cleaning up the registry
then installing latest RC19.5 drivers and server cured it, i have yet to try

Still have win2k3 problem
Hmm, this is interesting. I uninstalled ultravnc from my win2k3 server, cleaned up all registry references to vnc, then reinstalled ultravnc. I was then able to connect to the server from my XP workstation - once. I tried a second time (the server was locked, so I got a hand on the workstation). Subsequent tried have the app hang on my XP workstation. Does this give anyone any ideas as to what's happening here. It's driving me nuts!
Thanks.
Thanks.
