Hello
I am able to connect to machines running both Windows XP and Windows Vista which are running AVG Antivirus. However, one machine I need to access is running Windows XP and Norton Antivirus and the client executable is not getting as far as showing the 6 digit ID.
Has anyone else had issues with ChunkVNC and Norton and if so how did you resolve them?
Thankyou
J

Norton and ChunkVNC issues?

No I haven't but I'll throw out some ideas. Have you tried disabling Norton's firewall if your version includes that feature? You should be able to exempt ChunkVNC one way or another.
Does anything appear in NBrton's logs after Chunk fails to load? In fact, have you tried temporarily disabling Norton to make sure it's really the culprit?

Re: Norton and ChunkVNC issues?
Have not tried disabling as yet - it will likely take a long time to guide the user around the Norton software to disable features (my experience of Norton is not good, every installation I have encountered has buttons in different places and is a nightmare to maneuver around) - hence I thought I'd try to save a lot of hassle by seeing if anyone here had a more simple solution (such as using an older version of ChunkVNC) before I allocate a week to guide the user
I will try to get them to disable some features though.
My other idea is to get in via the free version of LogMeIn and then troubleshoot the ChunkVNC issue that way.

Re: Norton and ChunkVNC issues?
Interesting issue, the ID number that is displayed in the GUI is generated before any connections are even made. If you can see the GUI you should see the ID.
I could see Norton detecting it as a false positive virus since it's an AutoIt script. Try updating the AutoIt compiler version with a new one.
Download AutoIt - Self Extracting Archive from:
http://www.autoitscript.com/autoit3/downloads.shtml
Overite from the zip file:
SRC\Aut2Exe\Aut2exe.exe
SRC\Aut2ExeAutoItSC.bin
SRC\Aut2Exe\upx.exe
Then recompile a new InstantSupport.exe

Re: Norton and ChunkVNC issues?
But shouldn't (@#&%*($ Norton be kind enough to <b>tell him</b> that it's stopping something rather than silently causing a program to fail?
(Kind of a rhetorical question. )
