I am a system administrator for a small business company. I use UltraVNC to remotely manage our staff's computers. The EYE icon makes them feel uncomfortable. Could you please change the icon to a not so noticable one?
Thank you.
Bob Zhu

change the EYE icon to a different one
Re: change the EYE icon to a different one
It's moderately easy to go ahead and do it yourself.

Re: change the EYE icon to a different one
I was trying to follow the recommended posts to use my own icons, but it did not work:
"Put the icon you want in the install directory
standby -->icon1.ico
connected -->icon2.ico "
Can somebody explain more?
Thanks,
Bob

follow the rule
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms997636
for the final name of icons you did
standby -->icon1.ico
connected -->icon2.ico "
place at the folder of ultravnc

Re: change the EYE icon to a different one
I did copy the icon1.ico and icon2.ico to the Ultravnc new version folder (c:\program files\ultravnc) under win 7 pro (they did copy right) but after killing server and load it again (i tried 3 times, even killing service) and came back with the same original eye icon.
What I might be doing wrong?
Thanks for help.
BTW, the security question is SO ANNOYING, sorry to be honest. It might be some other silly-easy, short way to do it. Thanks

Re: change the EYE icon to a different one
Is typing "GPL" one time really that annoying?
I know we don't have the most sophisticated methods, but they've help reduced forum spam here a LOT...

Re: change the EYE icon to a different one
I just tested with XP and 7 x64 with 2 random 32x32px .ico's I found with google and it worked fine using the UltraVNC 1.0.9.1 Server.
Be sure to use a real icon editor and don't expect to be able to just rename a .bmp file to .ico.
If you're certain you have a valid .ico file then clear the icon cache and reboot: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/49 ... build.html
