multiple monitors stacked vertically

Post by chodelad »

I have recently upgraded our studio to 1.0.8.2 and have an issue with 2 workstations (which did not display issues using previous builds):

- Our edit suite has an HD plasma TV mounted on a wall (for previewing work and screening to clients), with a 1920x1200 TFT sitting on the desk just underneath. The HD plasma is also set up as a secondary display.
- My laptop has a secondary TFT display, adjusted to hover over/above the laptop's primary display (I find this easier to use with the 2 monitors having different resolutions and physical dimensions than if they were side by side).

In both cases, when connecting through VNC the mouse cursor is stuck at the top of the secondary display making the machine's impossible to use - unless you deactivate the secondary display. I have read on other threads that the top left corner of the primary display may need to sit at 0,0 to alleviate this but in the case of my laptop, this isn't possible.

Are there any workarounds in regard to this bug?

TIA, Damian

I don't know, but I will say that I find 1.0.8.0's multimonitor support a lot better than 1.0.8.2's so I would give that a try.... oh, upon re-reading I see that you did not have the problem with "previous builds".

Yeah, I just don't think 1.0.8.2 has very good multiple monitor support. :( If I were you I'd just revert.

I have the same problem on Vista 7 and VNC 10.0.82 - with 2 monitors horizontal - is the 1.0.8.0 available somewhere

I seem to be having a similar problem with 1.0.8.2 where the right monitor is my main windows desktop (with taskbar) and my desktop is extended onto the left monitor. When I VNC into this setup, the cursor is stuck on the leftmost border of the left monitor and I'm unable to move the mouse.

If this is a bug in this most recent stable version, I hope that this is going to be addressed in the next 1.0.9.x release.

Honestly, I'm not sure about previous builds.

I had been using the original RealVNC for years but switched to UltraVNC since the free version of RealVNC has no support for Vista or Windows 7.

I'll give your suggestion a try and see if 1.0.8.0 works any better.

I just hope that the authors are aware of this issue and taking steps to remedy it in either a future 1.0.8.3 or 1.0.9.x release. If as you say, 1.0.8.0 worked better with multiple monitors then apparently something was broken in subsequent releases.

Thanks,

Has the previous version 1.0.8.0 resolved your problem? I am having the same issue and our remote support is starting to form a lynch mob :)
