KVM switch command to remote computer

Post by Nikkonine »

Sometimes I have to be away from a computer that is going through an install. There is no way to install a VNC program, but if the installing computer was connected to a computer running a VNC server I could switch to the installing computer via a KVM switch. The keyboard commands for most KVM switches are Scroll Lock, Scroll Lock, Arrow Up.

For what you are talking about to work, UVNC would have to be running on the KVM, not the PC.

Isn't there a way I can insert a program on the computer with the KVM switch that will imulate the keyboard Scroll Lock sequence one I connect to that computer remotely? It seems it would only require a small Java or C++ program to emulate keyboard keys so the KVM switch would think the commands were coming from the keyboard.

I am would guess you can have UVNC send the keys, but you will still only see that computer. . .though the monitor would switch to the other machine.
