Why don't my changes stick?

Post by w2pp »

No matter what I change they are gone as soon as I go back to look. In particular in Uvnc when I change ports, or anything else its right back to auto just as soon as I close it and reopen it again??????

Operating system?
Where is UltraVNC installed? Is it in a directory that has write permissions for the settings file?

I just did a normal install, sometimes it WILL accept changes but about half the time it will not. Doesn't matter I cannot get it to work regardless. The intranet works just fine, but when I try to come in over the internet I cannot connect, I spent dozens of hours on this what a waste. Disabled every firewall I could find, router, Mcafee, using Windows 7 so when you have Mcafee there is no windows firewall. Labeled the ports in port forwarding to 5900 and 5800 respectively, program PFO and PFI respectively, nadda any ideas?

Try running the server as administrator since you use Windows 7 or my previous suggestion of installing it as a service.

Triple check that port forwarding is working.
I like this tool to check if I opened a port successfully: http://www.canyouseeme.org/

program PFO and PFI respectively

Sorry I don't know what this means...

I understand your frustration but don't give up, UltraVNC is a fine product.
