Anyone help on this one? I used to have a simple broadband connection from my PC but we've just installed an ethernet modem and implemented connection sharing. Every thing works great, except UltraVNC
I followed the guide linked from the UltraVNC homepage and opened ports 5800 & 5900 and my LAN ip address i.e. 10.0.0.X
(I even checked with Zoom tech support to make sure I'd done this right).
After a bit of fiddling around I can now connect to UltraVNC server on a remote machine. The trouble is I need to be able to connect using the viewer in listen mode (since most remote sites have only one phone line).
I've disabled my software firewall and according to Zoom everything should work fine without changing any more settings - but it doesn't.
I'm guessing it's the modem's firewall that's causing the problem but I can see/understand any way to configure it, other than add a NAT session (not sure what this does!) or set a DMZ (de-militarized zone) that would presumably make the entire network vulnerable to intrusion.
Any help greatly appreciated before I have to go out and spend some money....
TIA
Paul.

Last Hope. Hardware firewall problem?
Re: Last Hope. Hardware firewall problem?
So i guess the first question is .. Are your ports truely open?Guestage wrote:After a bit of fiddling around I can now connect to UltraVNC server on a remote machine. The trouble is I need to be able to connect using the viewer in listen mode (since most remote sites have only one phone line).
Using Win XP, UltraVNC RC 11d
https://grc.com/x/ne.dll?bh0bkyd2
check ports 5500,5800, & 5900
- If this fails then that means the port isnt open on the machine you want it to be open on... 5800 for java server and 5900 for application.... now if you are using the listener unless you specify the port that port by default is 5500... so check all three.
are you using this with Single Click? if not you may want to check it out.. of course when it is working.
and why not test out the newest version of UltraVNC yes... its not stable but it has a lot of good little features..
