ATI Driver Stop in Win7 on 785 based PC running 1.0.8.2 UVNC

Post by DeadlyDaddio »

We currently are experiencing a very annoying error on Asus M4A785TD-M EVO (AMD 785 chipset) based Win7-64 workstations where every few minutes the Video driver (9.11) Stops and then restarts, producing an error message that states just that.

After a few of these, the systems usually go BSOD or spontaneous Reboot.

After lots of testing and analysis we SUSPECT new hardware and driver features not getting along well with Mirror Driver found in UVNC 1.0.8.2 and are wondering if anyone else is experiencing this as well? We are also wondering how to fully remove the mirror driver to see if we can repair existing systems? Anyone know how to do this?

We took a system that was particularly bad and did a From Scratch Install of Win7 Ultimate 64 OEM, carefully installing core chipset & video drivers, doing updates and testing and have not been able to get anything but total stability out of the system.

Our next step would be to do a Disk Image of the system as it is, a Restore Point and attempt to install UVNC again to see if we can reproduce the issue that has so far plagued every single system with this core that we've built.

BTW, we have been using UltraVNC & Hamachi as a team for extra Secure Remote Support and WinVNC & Hamachi on XP for several years now...

Will post addendum shortly & thanks for any replies, Sher

in the folder of ultravnc (driver) you have the
uninstall.bat
or
setupdrv.exe uninstall

You need to execute it elevated "runas admin"
open cmd "runas admin"
goto folder
execute uninstall command

reboot

Thanks Rudi fir the prompt reply!

I've been working on this all afternoon & eve and here's basically what I've discovered so far...

1st, I did a From Scratch Install of Win7-64U OEM and installed nothing but video & core chipset drivers as well as available updates including driver updates for NIC, HID and so on.

After completion I tested the system thoroughly for the Video Driver Stop & Restart error. It was not to be found, in fact the system was completely stable and I was not able to even shake it no matter what I through at it.

I noted during our setups of the other workstations that Nero 9 Lite installed 3 extra things it claimed it needed to function properly and one of these was MS CRT 2005 which I thought was odd and so tucked it away for future reference.

I started our normal Production Install List, testing after each install for the error. After installation of the latest Nero 9 Lite, I tested the system and found that the issue had indeed fully returned and the system began to blank the screen and return with the same error message that the Video Driver had Stopped but had Successfully Restarted...

I had not, as of yet, installed UVNC so clearly this issue does not appear to have anything to do with UVNC inspite of former odd notations about a mirror driver already running, so could not load some unspecified video related driver in the System Event Logs.

In spite of this being somewhat unrelated to UVNC, I do hope it helps someone...
