We just started to receive an error from Symantec Endpoint Protection when trying to connect to a vnc server connection. After some Google searches, I found reference to the same message on Symantec.com. According to their website the only fix was that UltraVNC published a new version which took steps to correct the issue. With that being said, I just updated to the latest stable version of UltraVNC (1.0.8.2), but no change. I've also tried disabling the SEP services on my pc to no avail as well. Any ideas, solutions, etc. would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Devin

Began receiving VNC Large Error Response BO error from SEP
Re: Began receiving VNC Large Error Response BO error from S
Found the solution:
Open SEP Manager | Policies | Intrusion Prevention | Open Intrusion Prevention Policy | Exceptions | Add | Select the 22901 Policy

UltraVNC will not work with Symantec Endpoint Protection!!
Just came into work today and tried using UltraVnc. Getting Symantec Enpoint Protection error in pop up window that tells me that traffic fron IP address 10.1....is being blocked by address blah blah.
Tried upgrading from 8.0 to 8.2 and that didn't work!
ARRGH!
Can anyone help me? Please?
Thank you

I've seen this happening as well, but only when using MS Authentication. It appears to be a false positive from SEP and has just started over the . weekend. Rather than disabling that policy, please notify Symantec of the issue.

Re: Began receiving VNC Large Error Response BO error from S
Was having this problem, adding the VNC server executable to centralized exceptions resolved this for me.
Re: Began receiving VNC Large Error Response BO error from S
contacted Symantec, sent them wireshark captures with SEP enabled, and with SEP disabled. Once they resolve, they'll send out another update to SEP clients.
Re: Began receiving VNC Large Error Response BO error from S
For those like me trying to run the viewer from a computer (work, Vista) with the Symantec Endpoint Protection configuration locked, there is a way out:euan wrote:Was having this problem, adding the VNC server executable to centralized exceptions resolved this for me.
- Run a cmd as administrator
- run from the command console services.msc
- Stop the service "Symantec Endpoint Protection"
Now you can connect to your server
Once connected, you can start the service again and won't affect VNC.
