Socket error on file transfer

Post by maxabbr »

I use SC for a long time in my organization to support clients over internet and I start to use the new version because Vista/7 support (by the way, excellent job!!).

The problem is that when I use the 1.0.6 (or the new 1.0.8) version of viewer (in listen mode of course) the connection randoly brokes on file transfer (and only on file transfer operation, never during the navigation/usage) with the generic 'WriteExact: Socket error while writing' error message.

I note that if I don't close the error message the current file will be transfer with success (I make some md5 tests to verify if the file is corrupted or not).

If I use the 1.0.2 version of viewer this problem never occurs (we make about 10~20 file transfers in a single day so I can assure that it really never occurs).

I found other topics about this problem but the ideas doesn't solv my problem:
- View only during file transfer (disable the input)
- Reduce the settings to a fixed low value like 64 colors

Socket error on file transfer

Post by tomharrish »

Hello,
I'm trying to set my PC (running on SP) up as an server so I can access some of my files when I'm out.
Regardless of what server software I use, nearly all the times I connect I get "Data Socket Error: Connection timed out \n List Error" errors....
I googled it, and it seems to be a common error, but the only answers I found were to disable ZoneAlarm (which didn't work) and to change "Passive mode", which I'm not sure how to do since all I see for that option is a port range....
It works fine if I connect to it from the LAN side, but the problem is when I connect from the WAN side.....

Thanx
