Win7 Ultra VNC Issue...?

Post by Darkstrike »

Hey all!

I took a look around the forum and read as many of the FAQs I could, but I haven't been able to solve this problem...here goes!

I own a desktop and netbook, both computers are running Hamachi to connect to each other for over-internet LAN networking. Up until recently, they were both running Windows XP (Professional on the desktop, home on the netbook) and TightVNC and all was well.

However, I recently upgraded the desktop to Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I also decided to update my VNC client/servers on both computers to UltraVNC. I really like the design and it seems to work quite well.....except.....I now can't seem to get connections to work properly? I usually use it for connecting to my desktop from my netbook. However, when I connect, all I seem to get is a window saying "Initial screen loading" and then the connection seems to drop...? (As in the screen goes black and the little light icon in the top right goes from green to off/red?)

I'm not quite sure what's up....I haven't really changed the default settings except to tell it to scale the window to 65% so I can run it windowed on my netbook without having to scroll (netbook res is 1024x600, desktop is 1024x768).....but I can hardly see that stopping the connection.

I have the latest 64-bit version of UltraVNC on my desktop, and the latest 32-bit version of UltraVLC on my netbook. RDP works fine between the two, but I prefer VNC.

These are the settings I have set on the server: http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/6929/settings.png I also have the killrdp=1 setting set in the UltraVNC.ini file if that's important.

AND...these are the settings I have set on the client:

Any ideas, or am I just incompetent? :|

****UPDATE***

Ok, the first problem seems to have gone away. I am in a different place now and it seems to connect just fine.

However, I have a new issue. If I try to use the chat function from my netbook to my desktop, the server will crash on the desktop...?

Not sure what would be causing that...
