bug aero not restored if vncviewer disconnect of winvnc win7

Post by redge »

known bug n°2:
aero not restored if vncviewer disconnect of winvnc win7 ultimate (aero enabled and active)

simple steps,
direct or loopback with or without dsmplugin, same issue.
vnc authentication <--- edit, added this line

vncviewer 1.0.6.4 connect direct on localhost winvnc 1.0.6.4 running as service
aero automatic temporary disabled by winvnc
vncviewer close,
aero is not restored
on local winvnc, log off or stop uvnc_service, aero is restored.

Just to confirm, I see this on Vista 64 as well. A normal disconnect of a client does not restore the graphic state of the server machine. You must either restart the service, or log out, then back in to get the graphics back into sync.

Just my observation (using version 1.0.9.6): The Aero problem is most likely not a bug of UltraVNC per-se.

I got a ever-so-late message from my Win7 after logging on & off the UVNC server I had on it, and logging out & in on that Win7 to reset the Aero visual several times. And it was one of those out-of-the way message that Windows puts in the system messages which you can only get by clicking that little white flag that appears down in the system tray. The message reads to the effect of,
Windows 7 has switched to Aero (Basic)--BTW, that's the Aero version without the transparent glass look--because a running program was incompatible with certain elements in Windows 7. Windows 7 will automatically switch back to the original Aero display when the program has completed or closed. :surprise:
Here are some information I've come accross on the matter:
