Questions about Repeater and IDs

Post by Prometheus »

Hi all, I've been reading the site and forums for a few hours now and have a couple of questions. What I'm interested in doing is installing SC as a service (attempting the method sticky'd here) on some client machines that I need after-hours access to for maintenance. Am I correct in believing that the service will just keep contacting the repeater and I will be able to connect to those machines from anywhere by also connecting to the repeater and using the ID I configured in the SC installation?

My other question is, am I going to have to create a separate SC executable for every machine I want to do this to, so that it will have a separate ID, or is there another way to specify the ID for the service? I'm looking at rolling this out for 20-50 machines and having to create a separate exe for each machine would be a huge pita. Also, if I've got 20+ machines connecting to the repeater what sort of bandwidth drag is this going to create?

Thanks.

Why not install full release of ultravnc 1.0.5 as service system with new function service_commandline from ultravnc.ini
http://sc.uvnc.com/1052/UltraVNC_1052_Setup.exe

[admin]
service_commandline=-autoreconnect ID:12345678 -connect host

push vnc only on LAN or VPN
