I am having a hell of a time getting SC with encryption to work. Everything works great with no encryption. Here is what I am doing from start to finish.
I do a full install of UltraVNC on my machine. I copy MSRC4Plugin.dsm and MSRC4Plugin_NoReg.dsm from the Plugins directory to C:\Program Files\UltraVNC. I start up the Viewer by going to Start, Programs, UltraVNC, UltraVNC Viewer. Once the viewer opens I check the "Use DSMPlugin" box and select MSRC4Plugin_NoReg.dsm from the drop down list. Then I click on Config.
In the Config window it says KEY FILE NOT FOUND. I select 128 bit (I've also tried 40 bit) and click Gen Key.
It puts a new_rc4.key into C:\Program Files\UltraVNC. I rename the file to rc4.key and put copy of it into my custom.zip. Also in my custom.zip is my custom helpdesk.txt (see below). I then upload my custom.zip to to the RC23 Creator and download my .exe.
Then I start the Viewer on my machine with the following shortcut:
"C:\Program Files\UltraVNC\vncviewer.exe" -listen -dsmplugin MSRC4Plugin_NoReg.dsm
Finally I start up my remote.exe on the remote computer. The "connection active, warning your desktop is remote visable..." balloon pops up on the remote computer, but nothing happens on my computer. The viewer icon in the sys tray just sits there. I don't get a popup saying there is an incoming connection or anything. Both computers are Windows XP SP2 and on the same LAN with no firewalling between them at all. Everything works fine if I don't use any of the encryption settings. Also, after running the remote.exe I can no longer access the viewer properties or close the viewer on my computer via the icon in the sys tray. I have to go into Task Manager and kill it. If I never attempt the connection with remote.exe then I can close the viewer by right clicking and selecting Close.
Any ideas?
