UltraVNC over GPRS

Post by Cube »

Hello,

Has anybody successfully tested UltraVNC over GPRS ?

I need to add GPRS modem to a remote computer in order to access it (there is no other possibility to connect it to the net)

thanks in advance,

Cube

Hi,

If the machine that you want to connect to is the one with the GPRS Modem, I dont thin it will work, The mobile operators normally give the GPRS Modem a Private IP on their network, hence ou wont be able to connect to it.

However if there is someone at the GPRS end that could initiate the connection it does work.

Hope this helps.

I can solve this by having gprs modems within the same private network on both ends or have a GPRS modem with public internet access.

My problem is GPRS transmission lag (usual ping takes 2 seconds or more) - it breaks Windows XP remote desktop and I wonder if UltraVNC can handle it

i think the normal time out is 7 to 10 seconds, so i would think it would just be laggy as hell.
using latest code.... always... except when im not.

But better laggy than none. I wonder if ultravnc tolerates such lags
