Need remote access to all PC's on office LAN from offsite

Post by magdev »

Hello all,

Im searching for replacement software for the VNC+Kaboodle+GetEngaged bundle.

I need to be able to access all of the computers (4-5) on my small office network individually via remote access from offsite. Since the GetEngaged service is no longer available, I've had a difficult time locating a replacement solution. Looking for anything that performs close to the same; (all PC's run VNC server with one PC port-forwarded and acting as a 'master node' for kaboodle to connect to which then scans the LAN for active VNC-equipped PC's, forms a map of the entire network and allows remote desktop access to each of the detected devices).

The setup has to be fairly easy to use as this is for my boss to use, who is an IT noob with anger-management issues. Any suggestions/solutions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

Sidenote - All PC's are running xp, remote viewer will be a vista laptop

Are you using Kaboodle+GetEngaged for anything other than remote access? Given what you're doing you should have no problem using UltraVNC as the server/viewer without the other 2 packages. Does your office have a static IP on internet? If not, you'll need to get a Dynamic DNS and ensure your router can update DDNS services (I use DynDNS as my service). I think UVNC is your answer. I use it for very similar circumstances.
