Are Video driver of any use over the internet ?

I read Are Video driver dramaticallyè improve speed over a LAN connection. But are they of of any use over the internet ?

By the way : I noticed that during the video driver installation, the screen gets black for 1 second. No harm, but quite scary. I'd better not install it if useless over the internet (I do use UltraVNC over a LAN at all).

I use the video driver even over the internet, because I've noticed it also makes a significant difference even over slow connections.
The main reason is that WinVNC uses less CPU when video driver is On, so it can be more responsive.
